The
Indian Fastener industry took birth in the 1930's
and came into the spot light during the boom period
of the 1960's and recently, since 1995. The
intermittent years were punchuated by slack demand
due to a number of reasons, right from economic
problems in the countryto the gulf
crises.
Since
1995, following the revival in the user industry-
Automobiles-fasteners have been seeing excellent
offtake. Inspite of high raw material costs,
working capital intensiveness and the dominance of
the unorganised sector, the major players in the
industry have notched up noteworthy performances
fro the oast two years. Given the favourable
economic conditions, and of course, the cheap and
skilled labour, the Indian fastener industry is
gearing to emerge as the leading player in the
global scene. The scenario of a continuing boom in
the main user industry and an unexploited export
demand augurs well for the industry.
